A few people recently pointed out that my personal branding isn't everything that it could be. Joseph Cooney even took matters into his own hands.
Well, I contacted the big man himself, Steve McConnell, and he graciously provided me a high resolution vector file of the original Coding Horror logo used in Code Complete (see it on the page), along with permission to sell items based on that design.

I also have custom, two color die-cut vinyl stickers based on the same high resolution vector art.
To give you an idea of scale, the coin in the picture is a nickel. The dimensions of the sticker are 3.55" h x 3" w.

In case anyone was wondering, the actual Coding Horror font is Frutiger 75 Black, as I figured out today.
Might as well slap an "I'm Jeff's Bitch" sticker on my forehead.
Haacked on July 15, 2006 7:12 PMAny chance of getting the colour scheme inverted? As a concession to those of us with black-based wardrobes. I didn't consciously know it, but I've wanted one of these shirts since the first time I read Code Complete a -- oh my -- a decade ago.
scott lewis on July 15, 2006 7:21 PMPhil, it's not a celebration of me, it's a celebration of professional programming-- developers who grok Steve McConnell. And you can get the grey shirt (or, now, the black shirt) if you don't care for the URL on the back.
Scott, I am working on the black shirt. It'll be in the store sometime soon. I like black too. NONE MORE BLACK!
Jeff Atwood on July 15, 2006 7:28 PMWhat! No Coding Horror thong! Come on!
Steve on July 15, 2006 8:17 PMHot darn do I wish I could fit myself into an infant creepter. The coffee cup will prolly have to do...
Well done, Jeffe! Bonus points if you can integrate "orange" into a graphic at some point.
Jon Galloway on July 15, 2006 11:13 PMI await the tie-dyed version with the caption "clothing horror".
Alastair on July 16, 2006 4:37 PMThanks Jeff.. I guess I'm your bitch now.. Any chance in you coming down to SoCal with Mr. Stansfield?
Stephen Patten on July 16, 2006 8:09 PMOrdered! Cool shirt. Totally too expensive but, WTF.
Chris Martin on July 16, 2006 11:19 PMI never got my free wumpus sticker that I emailed you about.
jayson knight on July 17, 2006 12:05 AM"What! No Coding Horror thong! Come on!"
Seconded.
Burton on July 17, 2006 12:58 AM> Totally too expensive
Yeah, all the cafepress stuff is a little spendy, probably because they're doing 95% of the work. I'm not sure why the black T-shirts are $5 more than the white ones, though.. is there something about printing up black T-shirts that is fundamentally more expensive than white ones?
> No Coding Horror thong
I ask myself, WWMcCD?*
* What Would McConnell Do?
Jeff Atwood on July 17, 2006 1:08 AMWay cool shirts, Jeff.
David Grant on July 17, 2006 7:33 AM"I'm not sure why the black T-shirts are $5 more than the white ones, though"
Because they are using a color inkjet printer and starting with white t-shirts. Takes more ink to print a black t-shirt than it does a white t-shirt.
Scott on July 17, 2006 11:26 AMfor the same reason black macbooks are more expensive than white ones :)
thanks for setting up the european alternative, ordering soon!
Dom on July 17, 2006 12:05 PMI wonder if these kinds of obsessions lead to better or worse programming skills and personal life.
Lukas on July 17, 2006 12:06 PMVersus being obsessed with.. say.. women's bosoms? ;) I'd say better.
Jeff Atwood on July 17, 2006 1:07 PMI'll wait for the image-theft-safe WTF version of the shirt ;-)
Gabri on July 17, 2006 1:08 PMWell, Gabri and Jon, your wishes just came true.. check the store.. ;)
Still working on Phil's request.
Jeff Atwood on July 17, 2006 3:31 PMDude

Jeff Atwood on July 19, 2006 3:10 PMI finally have a worthy successor for my ratty old Daring Fireball shirt. :)
scott lewis on July 21, 2006 6:31 AMYou may have noticed a large order in your order report; thanks to you and Steve, the CafePress engineering team will be sporting these on our monthly bug bash day.
Excellent.
/Justin
(PS -- Scott got it right: printing on black requires a lot more ink)
Justin on July 22, 2006 9:57 PMMy cafepress order arrived today!
The order also included a coupon code for $6 off an order of $40 or more: "AUG640". Only valid through 8/31/2006.
Jeff Atwood on July 25, 2006 5:29 PMHow do you just "send me $3 at my work mailing address and I will send 4 stickers to you". ?
Postal Mail? Money Inside?
Martin Marconcini on August 25, 2006 3:25 PMMartin, send whatever form of payment you're comfortable with. I'm flexible.
Jeff Atwood on August 25, 2006 4:03 PMJeff,
I forgot to mention that I am in Europe ;)
Don't have paypal :p
Will EUR work?
Martin Marconcini on August 27, 2006 4:12 PMIt has been some time since I visited the US or handled US currency, so I am totally unaware of the dimensions of a Nickel. Furthermore, I am totally unaware of how many cents a Nickel is worth.
So, how "big" is it?
Gordon J Milne on August 30, 2006 2:16 PMIf only I had a nickel every time someone asked me that. I kid! I'll update with actual dimensions.
Jeff Atwood on August 30, 2006 2:27 PMJeff,
Cotton starts as white and thus a white T-shirt involves no dye. In order to make a different color shirt (such as black) they must dye the shirt and thus add to the cost.
Any chance we could get a polo shirt with more to it than such a small logo? I can't where T-Shirts at work :-/
Billkamm on June 2, 2007 2:18 AMBlack shirts require that a prep surface be applied first so the ink can setup, additionally the ink used is of a different type. It is more intense in its saturation to allow it to overcome the black background. Try taking a piece of black paper and write on it, you will notice that it takes substantially more ink to get the same affect you get on white paper. Yes, I have done the t-shirt business in the past.
Thom on June 19, 2007 8:36 AMWhere's the Wumpus T-shirts?
Spawn on December 15, 2007 10:19 PMI've ordered from US instead of international; its got the correct size/colour.
